About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I work with people feeling stuck, experiencing anxiety, loss, uncertainty and a desire to feel more confident, assured and resilient. I apply a range of theoretical models to my work, including Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory and the Psychodynamic approach. I am a Person Centred practitioner, which means that my work is centred around your goals or desired outcomes. I adopt a Holistic approach, and can help you consider how the environments in which you live, work and spend your time may affect your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. My practice is informed with an integrative set of theories which includes Neuroscience, Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Psychology. I am interested in societal issues, and encourage understanding of how social structures can intersect with personal experiences. I engage in introspective practices like meditation and yoga and carry this philosophy into my counselling practice. With a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Social Science, I came to a career in counselling later in life after my own experiences of change, uncertainty and loss. I hold a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Northern Guild.
I can work both short term (8-12 sessions) and longer term (16 sessions or more) and will discuss with you how this work might take shape.
Practice description
I have experience of working in NHS and Charitable settings. I have supported clients experiencing anxiety, depression and bereavement as well as those wanting to improve well being. I have personal experience of supporting Neurodivergent individuals, and welcome working with those who recognise the characteristics in themselves. I also have experience of supporting people experiencing Sensory Loss.
I believe that therapy can create the opportunity for you to explore your experiences, and understand what you need to feel, and live well.
I will meet you with acceptance and a non judgemental attitude. I offer a calm, safe space in which to support you. We will work at a pace and in a style that is right for you, on the issues that are most important to you. I can work at locations in Newcastle Haymarket, and Jesmond. After an initial period of in person sessions, I can offer a blend of face to face and online sessions.
My qualification is a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Northern Guild.
